Skip it! It’s actually rather startling that they waited so long to address what happened in the long gap. 1.9 “Tigh Me Up, Tigh me Down” Well, shouldn’t be skipped, as it introduces Ellen Tigh, and is actually a funny episode. We’re going to do this in two versions: in the first part, a guide for first-time watchers, with no spoilers. Putting The Plan after Episode 15 means you can finish the whole show 5 episodes later both emotionally AND intellectually satisfied. All episodes of Battlestar Galactica. And it doesn't exactly strain the imagination to watch it as a flashback. 1.6 “Litmus” Dicey! Could you maybe edit in why this is the order you'd choose? Anyway, IMO, the best part of The Plan was the invasion sequence. The Plan People say you should watch this here. 2.9 “Flight of the Phoenix” Chief starts building the stealth fighter; Sharon saves the ship from a cylon viral attack. Skiping directly from 2.13 to 2.18 works out really well actually! (Although it's worth noting that you don't have to have seen BSG to watch Caprica... and some people have decided to watch this series first, even though it was produced after BSG had finished.). Their lives before the Cylon attack helped forge some key figures of the fleet 1.11 “Colonial Day” All politics all the time; gets Baltar elected as vice-president. I like this episode but it’s in no way necessary. Hmm. Faced with an un-winnable battle against a deadly enemy, they are forced to flee under the protection of their one remaining warship, the outdated Battlestar Galactica. Are you enjoying yourself? It also moves forward the Sharon story importantly, both on Galactica and on Caprica, ta da! 100% correct. Are you anxious and impatient? This follows the release order with a few exceptions to avoid spoilers. 1.8 “Flesh and Bone” Oddly, this episode does not move things forward much but should absolutely be watched, mostly because it’s a Starbuck episode — and it introduces the Two, Leoben. It appears that another answer on this page was largely "inspired" by the Battlestar Galactica Viewing Order I created nearly four years ago :(. Weirdly I hate this episode but it’s kind of a tentpole. 4.13 “The Oath” These events stem from the events (Gaeta + Zarek) started in 4.12. 4.19 “Daybreak, Part 1” and 4.20 “Daybreak, Part 2” Well. But you get to that character anyway eventually, and you don’t need the whole episode to get her. Why do the Pern novels use regular words as profanity? Some people argue it's better to watch after Season 3, as originally broadcast, but it makes most sense to watch it here. This is the one where the Sagittaron refugees are victimized. I want to go back to the start, and watch it all the way through. The Face of the Enemy I've heard that the SyFy streaming service does have the extended versions, but then you also have to deal with the joy of commercials. And thanks for putting the web series' in there too, I would not have known about those. 3.17 “Maelstrom” This is a good update from 3.9. Go figure. These episodes have not been included on any DVD or Bluray releases, but if you live in the US you can view them for free on Hulu.com. A 10 episode web-based series bridging seasons 2 and 3. Whoo! This was potentially a whole new show at one stage, but it appears to be now just a stand-alone TV/web movie. ***. Obvs. ), Season 4 Continued (aka "Season 4.5" or "The Final Season"). * Some streaming services have alternatively listed Razor at the end of Season 3 instead of at the beginning of Season 4, or as a separate movie. If you want to jump to the annotated version for people who’ve seen the show already, let’s go. Why did the 6502 handle BCD with a special mode? Battle on board! Is a good update from 3.9, the boxing/relationships episode. But really, would you have NOT watched this? 1.5 “You Can’t Go Home Again” This is the one where Starbuck learns to fly a cylon raider. (20 episodes later, you’ll maybe wish you had! There are no spoilers. 4.7 “Guess What’s Coming to Dinner?” BIG STUFF. Roslin in space! 2.3 “Fragged” Hmm, you pretty much have to continue the through-thread here; this resolves the people stranded on Kobol since 1.10, and also has Tigh declaring martial law. 3.14 “The Woman King” Lord. Not strictly necessary but not uninteresting. SKIP IT. 1.3 “Bastille Day” Important! (Also: Adama waiting for Laura! Blood and Chrome Of the two, I think I’d skip…. 1.4 “Act of Contrition” I like this one; you should probably take it but you can leave it. I suppose you have to watch it for Roslin’s salvation. 2.8 “Final Cut” So, you can completely skip this one. Then watch it! Buying a gift for my PhD student after his graduation, Best use of After Update Trigger and Before Update. This episode is… unnecessary. SKIP! Thanks. 2. The viewing order in this guide is almost entirely chronological. I've shown many new BSG viewers the entirety of Razor after S2E17 with no detrimental (read: spoiler) effects on their viewing experience. I’ve never understood that. (Well this is where Razor was originally broadcast, after all.) Everything revealed is mystical (seeming) mumbo-jumbo fortune telling that is encoded in symbolic language. Is it true that rental income may end up not taxable in USA? 3.10 “The Passage” Not terrible or annoying; just skippable. It’s quite a bit of TV! I would watch it in air order, so after Season 3. Only Battlestar Galactica, the last of the Colonial Fleet, survives the attack. And… ends. Thanks. 4.14 “Blood on the Scales” Part three, essentially. With Other Sharon. That's a great breakdown of where to start. Watching Razor again before Season 4 is BIGGER "spoiler" in my opinion as it is a little to "on the nose" in terms of trying to highlight Starbuck's role. Good job. Interesting idea to move The Plan, though; I quite like that. 2.15 “Scar” So there’s a cylon ship named Scar. 4.13 “The Oath” A smooth continuation of 4.12. Cally and Chief get stuck in a malfunctioning airlock. This is because Razor was produced as the first part of Season 4's production budget, however, it chronologically belongs in Season 2 and storywise it fits perfectly there. My perspective on this is that the list is for a brand new viewer that has no idea where to start or what to watch or in what order. Great answer! They’re like, three minutes each. I like the skeleton of your recommendations, but the details are uneccessary and overly complex. My list's improvement in comparison to the other two answers is a mixture of improving formatting and streamlining content to make it easier and more clear for a newcomer to understand and follow. Sometimes it was a bit of a slog, I know. But… I feel ya. Battlestar Galactica Viewing Order - UPDATED. Here we are. It’s good after 3.9. That episode order was actually the first to take into account all the BSG extras, like the web series, deleted scenes, extended episodes, etc. 3.15 “A Day in the Life” If you are in love with the main characters, as you should be, you’ll appreciate this episode. 3.8 “Hero” A man from Admiral Adama’s past appears in a space ship! And after that, I’ll make my case. No one should skip an episode this early. You will have to search some or all of these out if you want the complete story. Watching all of Razor in Season 2 and leaving it there feels much more fluid and organic to the overall narrative. Has a backstory you can live without. 3.13 “Taking A Break From All Your Worries” This is totally worth it just for the acting. In the vast majority of skippable episodes, there is likely one important backstory or plot point or piece of information. Is there any official, specific convention that defines whether an expression is considered "Simplified"? To subscribe to this RSS feed, copy and paste this URL into your RSS reader. It makes sense! * Most streaming services don't have the extended versions of Razor, nor of episodes S02E10, S03E09, S04E12, S04E18, and S04E19-E21, nor of The Resistance and The Face of the Enemy webisodes at all.
