I highly recommend that a visit to Turnhole Bend Nature Trail just down the road a bit where you can see where this underground river joins the Green River. We were short on time and took a pass. While at Mammoth Cave be sure to take the "Historical", "Snowball", and "New Entrance" tours of Mammoth Cave. I did walk up a couple of parts but they were fairly short (a few hundred yards at most).
