Museums commonly adopt storytelling in their interpretive framework by use of audiovisual techniques to convey the meanings contained within artifacts. The addition is an articulated geometry clad in blue stainless steel housing offices and activity rooms at the ground floor and special exhibition galleries at the level above. This dynamic vision to the relationship between tradition and innovation, between legacy and invention, is perfectly embodied in the CJM building itself, one of the most intriguing designs by the studio led by Daniel Libeskind. 36 is again a number with many references to Jewish culture, and probably Libeskind chose it as a multiple of 18, the number connected to Chai/Life in the Kabbalah. read more >> case-studies. As common for many projects by Libeskind, the CJM building architecture is strongly linked to symbolic meanings and references. The entrance lobby is a double-height hall where Libeskind’s distinctive touch is clearly visible in the faceted volumes that reveal the intersection of the old building and the new addition. ackground information regarding theB architectural context for the addition will be provided, as well as a synopsis of the architect’s mastery of structural design. The research method of this study is drawn from a case study of YVHHM and consists of a literature review of scholarship in museum studies about artifacts and exhibition techniques of storytelling. Terms. The architecture of the ArtA museum by BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group is a perfect example of a visionary and ground-breaking unbuilt design for a museum . For Tony Bennett, Professor of Cultural Studies and Foundation Director at the Institute for Cultural Policy Studies in the Faculty of Humanities, at Griffith University, Australia, museum architecture is “the specific cultural institution which requires a distinctive architecture of its own in the late eighteenth century” (Bennett, 1995, p.181). In addition to audiovisual mediation, this study demonstrates the idea that museum architecture itself can also be regarded as a medium of spatial storytelling, specifically of historical time, which is manifested spatially and cognitively for museum visitors.

Th design of the structure was inspired from cellular structure and growth and had a solar reflective exterior, natural wind ventilation and rainwater flow drainage. It is indeed not a “classic” museum focusing on history, traditions, heritage and culture mostly dating to a more or less recent past, but a non-collecting institution dedicated instead to the creativity of Jewish artists in the 21st century. In essence, Libeskind’s design is a constant celebration of the dialogue between two elements: old and new, tradition and innovation, life and art. Light also became key in the design of the museum, with an emphasis on both diffused and reflected natural light. The former power station is a rectangular building made in red bricks which accommodates the entrance lobby, a cafeteria, and an education center; an exhibition gallery and the auditorium are located in an adjacent wing on the ground floor. “Case Study is a process or record of research into the development of a particular person, group, or situation over a period of time.” (dictionary meaning of case study).
