It’s confident and roomy, but still retains enough nimbleness and isn’t unwieldy in any way when you do want to start throwing the bike around. SRAM’s NX Eagle 1×12 gearing is a little disappointing at this price. While I must give a hat tip to the Lyrik fork, Super Deluxe+ shock and Guide R brakes, which offer plenty of power and control, it’s hard to not be a little disappointed with the rest of the spec at this price. For a contemporary enduro race inspired bike, the carbon Enduro Expert is quite light at 13.46kg or 29.67lbs. I appreciate that the stock fork includes a Kabolt skewer, replacing the usual 15mm quick-release that I would have swapped immediately. I can’t quite split the hairs between this bike and the Santa Cruz Megatower, but I can say that folks who buy this bike with the hopes of fast and fun riding will be stoked on their decision. The Comp model pictured here is the cheapest Enduro that Specialized offers. Specialized continues to use the tried and true Horst Link suspension design, although it rides quite a bit differently than previous Enduros. This bike places downhill performance at the top of its priority sheet, and there’s nothing wrong with that – for the right customer that is…. The Enduro Comp is one of the closest to a full-on downhill rig of any enduro-style bike that I’ve ever ridden. Sometimes trails are also flat, and you’re not even sprinting. GEAR REVIEWS In the anti-squat and anti-rise department, Specialized found a pure race platform to build this bike around. There’s a stout rubberised bumper on the belly of the bike, under the bottom bracket (BB) and lower half of the down tube, to keep the carbon properly protected from rock strikes and the like. There have been glorious advances … The Megatower did all of that with a smooth coil shock flipped open, so I’m tempted to call it the uphill winner, but I would have to test the Enduro with a coil spring to be sure. It’s not all doom and gloom though, this bike didn’t get a near perfect score for nothing, after all. Widgets, Explore That last detail is less exciting.
