In a raid when he was 15, Patrick was taken to Ireland and for 6 years he was a swineherd and slave in Armagh. Created by Kempe & Co, and inserted c.1906 as the Herbert William Maude Memorial window. He became one of Europe’s most learned men, deriving his knowledge from Benedict Biscop’s great monastery library, and, in his own words, from ‘Noble Jesu, Fount of all Wisdom’.

Designed by Augustus Pugin, the Roman Catholic Cathedral Church of St. Barnabas was built between 1841-1844. The clergy traditionally prayed here and an elaborately carved screen was often built to separate them from the general public in the nave. An earlier cathedral, on another site in the city, had served the community since 1879.

The Roman Catholic Cathedral Church of St. Mary, was designed by Augustus Welby Pugin and built in the Gothic Revival style of architecture championed by him, between 1842 and 1844. The West Front is now bare stone but in its medieval heyday, this would have been brilliantly painted with strong bold colours. It is also the chapel of Christ Church at the University of Oxford. Stalls were set up to sell relics and clay models of the parts of the body that required healing. In 1115, with the area now under Norman control, the life of the community began to improve and construction of a new Cathedral began. The Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Truro is a Church of England cathedral in the city of Truro, Cornwall. She became an early Franciscan, caring for the sick and poor, but was persecuted. The Roman Catholic Cathedral is known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King and was built after World War Two in a futuristic design by Frederick Gibberd. Another outstanding example of its medieval art is the Great Screen. While in Tours, Alcuin arranged for some of his pupils to go to York to bring some of the rarer works that he had collected there back to Tours. Maude died 3 Aug 1896, aged 21. This Celtic monk accepted the Roman tradition at the Synod of Whitby, and his wise bearing had lasting influence on the English Church. Opening Times Neo-Romanesque in style, its architect was Thomas Baird.

Originally occupied by St. Deiniol's monastery, established around 525, Bangor Cathedral is located on a low-lying and inconspicuous site, possibly to avoid the attention of raiders from the sea. The scale of the Church's power can be imagined when it is considered that it controlled one third of the country's wealth before Henry VIII stripped it of much of its lands and privileges. She was noted for her inexhaustible ministry to the poor and her service to Scotland. On the left-hand light is shown St. Louis the Soldier Saint and King of France, and below the Shield of France. In the next decade the northern part of the graveyard was landscaped to form a Close, and houses were built for the Provost and two Residentiary Canons. Near this are the Arms of Cambrai. Cathedrals in the Middle Ages weren't the quiet, reverential places of worship we know today.

Today’s church is the fourth to have occupied this site. Completed in just 38 years, it features a single consistent architectural style.

The Cathedral and Collegiate Church of St Saviour and St Mary Overie 'over the water' has been a place of Christian worship for more than 1,000 years, but a cathedral only since the creation of the diocese of Southwark in 1905. He was noted for his sermons and writing. Bradford Cathedral hosted the Festival in October 2016. Additional to its extensive commitment in the provision of choral services, the choir is known to a wide public through many recitals, recordings and broadcasts and by its regular choir tours - the first tour was held in July 1968 and the 40th anniversary tour, from 22 to 27 July 2008, included singing in Ely Cathedral, King's College Cambridge, the National Musicians' Church St Sepulchre-without-Newgate in the City of London, All Saints Pastoral Centre London Colney and the Chapel of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Since that time the Cathedral has been dedicated to Saint Asaph. It was erected in the 1400s but the original statues with their vivid colours didn't survive England's religious upheavals. Jesus on Cross. The Roll of Honour, including over 13,000 names, may be seen in the Regimental Chapel in York Minster.
Two carved stones, probably parts of a Saxon preaching cross, have been found on this site. The Norman Lady of the Manor, Alice de Laci, built a second church that three hundred years later would be destroyed by raiding Scots. Just one bellringer can operate the bells by hand and using footpedals. The angels in this window, some playing harps and dulcimers, others holding palms, wreaths and chaplets, were originally fitted into the tracery at the top of the old window, and were designed by William Morris. It depicts the history of the world as told in the Bible, and shows Christ flanked by angels above statues of the disciples and kings as well as martyrs and confessors.
